The Montgomery County Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Mason County Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mason County will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Montgomery County extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Indians blew past Paris 17-1. Considering the Indians have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Montgomery County let Abe Mullins and Landon Back run wild. Mullins went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Back went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Back has posted since back in May of 2025. Kellen Burchett also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Montgomery County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mason County not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 16-1). Everything went their way against Calvary Christian as they made off with a 14-1 victory.
Carter Roark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Mason County is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-10 otherwise. Roark was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mason County got a massive performance out of Hayden Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Jackson has become a key player for the Royals: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Marquis Bluford was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Montgomery County's record now sits at 21-6. As for Mason County, their record is now 10-11.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Montgomery County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Mason County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
