The Oak Grove Panthers were the 70-67 winner over the Richmond Spartans when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. Oak Grove was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 49-48 to Richmond. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Oak Grove has scored all season.
Oak Grove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maurkalip Riley, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Riley scored a full 29.2% of Oak Grove's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aaron Reeves was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Oak Grove were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Oak Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Richmond, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Oak Grove will face off against Odessa at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Richmond, they will head out on the road to face off against Knob Noster at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Knob Noster has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
