Timpanogos has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Layton Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Timpanogos posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Friday. Everything went their way against Uintah as Timpanogos made off with a 77-51 victory. With Timpanogos ahead 40-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Timpanogos got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Josh Graf out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Graf continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Steven LaPray, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of 13 wins, Layton Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Provo by a score of 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Layton Christian Academy has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Otavio Armani, who scored 15 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Alan Gballou was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three blocks.
Timpanogos' win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Layton Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Timpanogos have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Layton Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 35.7 rebounds per game. Given Timpanogos' sizeable advantage in that area, Layton Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Timpanogos came up short against Layton Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 47-38. Can Timpanogos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
