After a string of three wins, the Lakota West Firebirds's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. The match between them and Mason wasn't particularly close, with Lakota West falling 56-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lakota West in their matchups with Mason: they've now lost nine in a row.
Mason was led to victory by Anna Habra and Madison Parrish. Habra dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Parrish scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Parrish has scored at least a third of Mason's points. Another player making a difference was Jazmyn Johnson, who scored five points along with two steals.
Lakota West's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5. As for Mason, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2.
Lakota West will challenge Princeton at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mason, they will be playing at home against Lakota East at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mason is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakota East in Ohio (Mason is ranked sixth, while Lakota East is ranked 42nd).
