The Knippa Crushers lost against the Rocksprings Angoras back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Knippa was outmatched by Rocksprings at home and fell 68-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Knippa in their matchups with Rocksprings: they've now lost five in a row.
It was another big night for Claire Burleson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists for Rocksprings. That makes it five consecutive games in which Burleson has scored at least 25% of Rocksprings' points. Cydney Newsom was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five steals.
Knippa's loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.9 points per game. As for Rocksprings, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.
Knippa will be playing in front of their home fans against D'Hanis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocksprings' road trip will continue as they head out to face Leakey at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Leakey will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1012th, while Rocksprings is ranked 277th).
