4A Region 2 recap September 10, 2013
New Albany scaled the state rankings by moving to 115 from 143 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 2. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of besting Pontotoc 11-8.
Ripley took down Falkner 54-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Brandon Bryant was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 16 carries as Rosa Fort beat Horn Lake. Teammate Terreous Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
Carter was the best receiver in the league this week as the Lions defeated the Eagles. Carter racked up 7 receptions for 72 yards.
Devin Thomas put up the best numbers through the air as Lafayette bested DeSoto Central. He had a total of 8 completions for 91 yards. Thomas' favorite target this week was Dillon Helm, who caught 2 passes for 41 yards.
The Tigers' Dalton James and Isaih Howard have formed a dream team this season, leading 4A Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. James has thrown for 456 yards this season, while Howard has 16 catches for 321 yards. Bryant from Rosa Fort leads the league in rushing with 326 yards.
New Albany and the Warriors played the closest game in the league this week, with New Albany eventually emerging with a 11-8 victory. Jimmy Baldon threw for 45 yards, ran for 62 yards and caught 2 passes for 17 yards during the win.
