Roosevelt is 2-8 against Slaton since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Tigers at 12:00 p.m. Roosevelt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Roosevelt proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by nine) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Littlefield, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 21st.

Cameron Vasquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Vasquez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Everitt Rodriquez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Roosevelt: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 6-7-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Daniel, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Roosevelt hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Slaton). They blew past Muleshoe 16-6 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on JC Rodriguez, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Kenon Diaz was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The win got Slaton back to even at 3-3. As for Roosevelt, the victory got them back to even at 8-8-1.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Roosevelt has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Slaton struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
