The Franklin Central Flashes will face off against the Roncalli Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Roncalli will be up against a hot Franklin Central squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Flashes' pitcher stepped up to hand Southport a 14-0 shutout on Saturday.
Kiley Renick was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Audrina Yorn was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Alex Ireland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Ten must be Roncalli's lucky number: they beat Ben Davis with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Royals put the hurt on the Giants with a sharp 10-4 victory. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Giants recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Roncalli got a massive performance out of Bennie Leffler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Leffler has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Curtis, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
Roncalli kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
Franklin Central pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Roncalli, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .434. However, it's not like Roncalli struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin Central beat Roncalli 9-4 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Flashes repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
