The Elizabeth Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 54-34 walloping at the hands of Hudson Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elizabeth has scored all season.
Elizabeth's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashanti Dewalt, who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jah'nae Lembrick, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Elizabeth's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Hudson Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
Elizabeth will be playing at home against Union Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Elizabeth is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Union Catholic in New Jersey (Elizabeth is ranked 85th, while Union Catholic is ranked 210th). As for Hudson Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Dominic Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hudson Catholic is coming into the matchup with three straight victories on the road, so St. Dominic Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
