Basketball Recap: Mccormick Extends Winning Streak to Three

McCormick extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Daruis Houston. The McCormick Chiefs really took it to the South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind Hornets for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-22 win thanks in part to Houston, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of McCormick's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 5-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Morton, who posted six points. What's more, he also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

McCormick is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

McCormick won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Saluda at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in McCormick's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind, they will square off against GREEN Upstate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
