On Thursday, Neptune was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 19-14 to Barnegat. Neptune has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
It was another big night for Myquan Rush-Esdaile, who rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
Neptune's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.7 points per game. As for Barnegat, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
Neptune will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Asbury Park at 10:00 a.m. on November 18th. Asbury Park comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Barnegat does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
