Softball Recap: Arlington Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Arlington had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Millington Central on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Trojans 14-8. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Juleann Roberts made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Roberts was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brittanie Layton was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Reeves, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.

Arlington's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9-2. As for Millington Central, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arlington will head out to take on Dyer County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Millington Central, they will venture away from home to square off against Munford at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
