Despite their loss, Ascent Classical Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vann Rogers, who went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points along with six boards and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Colberg, who posted nine points and three steals.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They breezed by Poudre Community Academy to the tune of 66-35 on Wednesday. With the Timberwolves ahead 39-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Twin Peaks Classical Academy's win came from a few key players Ascent Classical Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jace Ross, who put up nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Morris, who scored eight points and five rebounds.
Twin Peaks Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.
Twin Peaks Classical Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Ascent Classical Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ascent Classical Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 boards per game. However, it's not like Twin Peaks Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
