Basketball Recap: Alex Osterloh Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Priory

Sacred Heart Prep took a 28-point loss the last time they faced off against Priory, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Sacred Heart Prep Gators narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Priory Panthers 65-63. The score was all tied up 35-35 at the break, but the Gators were the better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacred Heart Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Osterloh, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Osterloh a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alberto De Bernardis, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Priory still got an impressive performance from Jai Gerrodette, who went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Teddy Xanthopoulos, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points.

Sacred Heart Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 33.1% in those games and 24.5% outside of them. As for Priory, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-5 record.

When Sacred Heart Prep and Priory next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Sacred Heart Prep will challenge Carlmont and their five-game winning streak at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sacred Heart Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Priory will try to stop King's Academy's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
