The Landrum Cardinals came tearing into Friday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 91-48 win over Greenville Tech Charter on the road. Given Landrum's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Warriors are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Benett Edwards was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Franklin Davis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight assists and five steals.
Landrum is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Greenville Tech Charter, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Landrum will head out on the road to take on the Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greer Middle College is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Cardinals a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Greenville Tech Charter will take on the Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Blacksburg and the Warriors are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
