Baseball Recap: Delta Charter Has No Trouble Against Block

Delta Charter won the last time they faced Block and things went their way on Friday too. The Storm put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Riley Butts tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Will Wiley was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tayton Fife, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Delta Charter and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Block, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, Delta Charter will venture away from home to square off against Bastrop at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.29 runs per game on average), something the Storm will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Block, they will welcome St. Frederick at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
