After flying high against Port St. Joe last Friday, Wakulla came back down to earth. The Wakulla War Eagles fell 27-20 to the Taylor County Bulldogs on Friday. Wakulla wouldn't let Taylor County keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Jaylen Jones, Dakota Greene, and Derek Davis picked up one apiece. Greene's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making four total tackles.
Taylor County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dj Mccoy led the charge by rushing for 141 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Kingston Williams was another key player, picking up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wakulla's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Taylor County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakulla will challenge Chiles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Taylor County, they will take on Dixie County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
