Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Winter Haven beat Mainland 52-46 on Friday. Given Winter Haven's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Mainland is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Haven found their leader in underclassman Serenity Hardy, who scored 27 points. The contest was Hardy's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Kathleen's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.67 points. As for Winter Haven, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Kathleen have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 37% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Winter Haven struggles in that department as they've made 37% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
