Basketball Recap: Sheridan's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Sheridan entered their tilt with Hagerstown on Saturday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 85-55 stomp they got against the Hagerstown Tigers. The Blackhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.

Sheridan found their leader in sophomore Trey Page, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 28 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Page has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Winston, who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Sheridan was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hagerstown only racked up 11 assists.

Hagerstown's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaykob Troutwine, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Kaagen Kendall, who put up 16 points and five rebounds.

Sheridan pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for Hagerstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Sheridan and Hagerstown could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Sheridan (ranked 138th) will meet Parke Heritage (ranked 39th) at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Similarly, Hagerstown (ranked 284th) will meet Centerville (ranked 91st) at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
