The Chester Yellowjackets will venture away from home to square off against the Carterville Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chester is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Chester's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Steeleville. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly ten runs.

Avery Hasemeyer and Elaina Lutman did most of the damage at the plate: Hasemeyer went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Lutman scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those four RBI gave Hasemeyer a new career-high. Anna Menefee also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Chester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steeleville only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carterville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Carmi-White County with a sharp 11-5 victory on Tuesday.
Emilyn Ford looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Carterville let Addyson Wright and Kendall McCalla run wild. Wright scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while McCalla got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Sloan, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Carterville's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chester, their record is now 6-0.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chester has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Carterville struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
