The Pius X Thunderbolts scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Platte 87-47 on the road. The result was nothing new for Pius X, who have now won three games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Treyson Anderson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. The match was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Kelly, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, North Platte still got an impressive performance from Jesse Mauch, who scored 28 points. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Eli Broman, who scored two points.
Pius X's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for North Platte, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Pius X will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Columbus at 4:30 p.m. Columbus has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7. As for North Platte, they will head out on the road to face off against Kearney Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Kearney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
