The Triplains/Brewster Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-22 to Cheylin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Triplains/Brewster of the 47-30 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Triplains/Brewster lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kenlee Mackley. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 15 rebounds. Lacey Bergsten was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
It was another big night for Taylor McCarty, who scored 26 points along with six steals and five rebounds for Cheylin. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which McCarty has scored at least a third of Cheylin's points. Another player making a difference was Hayden Ketzner, who scored four points along with five steals.
Triplains/Brewster's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Cheylin, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-7.
Triplains/Brewster's road trip will continue as they head out to face Weskan at 3:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Weskan is ranked 354th, while Triplains/Brewster is ranked 338th). As for Cheylin, they will be playing at home against Wheatland-Grinnell at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wheatland-Grinnell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
