It was a good run, but the Williamstown Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-50 defeat to they. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bellows Free Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.
Despite the loss, Williamstown still got an impressive performance from Evan Bailey, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Bailey is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Colby Laggner was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Williamstown were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Williamstown bumped their record down to 4-3 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bellows Free Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Williamstown will be playing at home against Northfield at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northfield is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bellows Free Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Richford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Vermont (Richford is ranked 36th, while Bellows Free Academy is ranked 29th).
