The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wyoming East, who took down 66th ranked Wyoming East, 18-15.
Bluefield was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Charlotte Latin 62-37. The Beavers came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 50 last week.
The Warriors' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Aaron Griffith threw for 21 yards and Jacob Summe had 15 yards receiving. On the ground Summe chipped in 146 yards. Pete Culicerto helped Wyoming East's passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
Coty Bishop made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wyoming East fell to Mt. View. The 5-foot-11 defensive end racked up 1.5 sacks.
Webster County's Jacob Thayer and Joe Collins have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Coalfield AA in both passing and receiving yards. Thayer has thrown for 563 yards this season, while Collins, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has six catches for 165 yards. Summe from Gary Poindexter's team leads the league in rushing with 712 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Warriors take on River View. At the moment, Wyoming East is in sixth, while the Raiders are in first.
River View was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to first in the league. The Raiders beat Monroe 28-12 earlier in the week.
