The Point Loma Pointers will venture away from home to square off against the Patrick Henry Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Point Loma has five straight wins, Patrick Henry has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Point Loma is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Cathedral Catholic on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-4 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Ella Poulin and Remington Spangler made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Poulin pitched five innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Spangler tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. At bat, Poulin got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Spangler went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Point Loma's record now sits at 18-8. As for Patrick Henry, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15-1.
Patrick Henry's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Point Loma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Patrick Henry, though, as they've only averaged .213. Will they be able to contain Point Loma's hitters?
Point Loma got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Patrick Henry by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pointers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
