The Romeoville Spartans and the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs will round out the year against one another at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Romeoville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Mahomet-Seymour likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, the stars were shining brightly for Romeoville in a 65-48 win over Fenwick. Given Romeoville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Fenwick is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after only 17 points in their last match, Mahomet-Seymour made sure to put some points up on the board against Normal West on Tuesday. Mahomet-Seymour came out on top against Normal West by a score of 64-55.
Romeoville's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Mahomet-Seymour, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Everything went Romeoville's way against Mahomet-Seymour in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as Romeoville made off with a 63-40 win. Does Romeoville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mahomet-Seymour turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
