If the Capuchino Mustangs were riding high off their 61-36 takedown of the Oceana Sharks last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Capuchino took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mills. Capuchino was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mills apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Capuchino still got an impressive performance from Dominic Vanden Berghe, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Vanden Berghe continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Cruz, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mills can attribute much of their success to Tanay Rai, who scored 15 points. Tyler Ngo was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Capuchino's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Mills, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Capuchino will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Aragon at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. As for Mills, they will challenge Westmoor at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Westmoor will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
