Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele of
Campbell (Ewa Beach) is the 2024 MaxPreps Hawaii High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior quarterback helped the Sabers to a 9-2 record and an Open Division semifinal appearance.
Sagapolutele threw for 3,404 yards and 46 touchdowns against just three interceptions, helping Campbell win its first nine games for the first time in school history. He completed 70.5 percent of his attempts and also added a pair of scores on the ground.

In a 49-43 win over Kapolei, Sagapolutele threw for a season-high 473 yards
and accounted for seven touchdowns. Campbell erased a 32-7 second-quarter
deficit and clinched its first OIA Open Division championship game
appearance in 27 years.
The performance against Kapolei was one of six where Sagapolutele threw for at least 300 yards and five touchdowns.
Sagapolutele finished his career as the state's all-time passer with 10,653 yards, surpassing Oregon's Dillon Gabriel earlier this season. He also threw 114 touchdown passes, second in state history behind the Keoki Alani of Konawaena (Kealakekua), who finished with 127.
Sagapolutele is the eighth-rated quarterback in the Class of 2025 according to 247Sports and checks in as the 106th-rated prospect overall.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
