The Myers Park Mustangs will face off against the Pinecrest Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Myers Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Olympic get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won nine in a row.
Jackson Gasiorowski looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Price Bailey, who scored four runs while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adams Hollmeyer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Myers Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pinecrest not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024. Everything went their way against Scotland as they made off with an 11-1 win.
Will Chopping made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run.
In other batting news, Liam Dutton was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. David Wiley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Pinecrest's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Myers Park, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Myers Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pinecrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Myers Park couldn't quite get it done against Pinecrest when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
