River Mill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 558th, while Southern Wake Academy is ranked 183rd).
River Mill struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (Chatham Charter had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. River Mill took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chatham Charter. River Mill was down 40-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, River Mill had strong showings from Anthony Brown, who scored 14 points along with six steals, and Will Jones, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Brown hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Matthew Light, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Southern Wake Academy put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woods Charter 64-21 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Southern Wake Academy has posted since November 27, 2023.
River Mill's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Southern Wake Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.
