After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, Manteo was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Perquimans County Pirates, sneaking past 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Redskins: when they faced off against the Pirates two weeks ago, they had to take a 1-0 loss.
Makenna Gray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
