Softball Game Preview: Monument Valley Mustangs vs. Many Farms Lobos

Monument Valley has gone a perfect 5-0 against Many Farms recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Monument Valley will host Many Farms at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monument Valley has three straight wins, Many Farms has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Monument Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Ganado on Monday. Monument Valley put the hurt on Ganado with a sharp 19-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Adrianna Dominguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Those earned runs marked the first that she tossed this season. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Nannabah Haskan was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angel Haskan, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3.

Monument Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ganado only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Many Farms' offense. They came up short against Joseph City on March 7th, falling 17-0.

Many Farms' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Monument Valley, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3.

Everything went Monument Valley's way against Many Farms in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as Monument Valley made off with a 25-2 victory. Will Monument Valley repeat their success, or does Many Farms has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
