The Braddock Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Southridge Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Braddock posted their biggest victory since December 11, 2023 on Wednesday. They blew past Coral Gables, posting a 61-32 victory at home. Given Braddock's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Coral Gables is ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Braddock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yvonne Jebian, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Jebian has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Elsa Stier, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Lourdes Academy typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Southridge proved too difficult a challenge. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the 46-14 on the road. With Southridge ahead 32-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Braddock pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24 points. As for Southridge, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
Braddock was taken down by Southridge 68-41 in their previous matchup back in January of 2016. Thankfully for Braddock, Tykira Dawson (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
