The Archbishop Bergan Knights were the 45-41 winner over the Lincoln Christian Crusaders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Archbishop Bergan was the victim of a tough 61-36 loss at the hands of Lincoln Christian on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Archbishop Bergan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Lincoln Christian is ranked first).
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Summer Bojanski, who scored 14 points. Paige Frickenstein was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Archbishop Bergan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Archbishop Bergan now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Lincoln Christian, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Bergan will take on Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Lincoln Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Scotus at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scotus will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
