James Emmett and Jordan Houseman provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Tunkhannock. The longest such play in Wyoming Valley 3A this season, the connection resulted in 63 yards.
Pittston's Justin Wilk rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against the Tigers last week. Wilk scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 95 on the day as his team beat Tunkhannock.
Pittston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Emmett threw for 199 and three touchdowns and Houseman had 125 yards receiving. Joe Starinsky helped Pittston's passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
Mike Barrett's team's Emmett and Starinsky have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Emmett has thrown for 337 yards this season, while Starinsky, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has nine catches for 158 yards. James M. Coughlin's Zac Evans leads the league in rushing yards with 560.
A big matchup in Wyoming Valley 3A this week will be when Mark Hoover's team takes on Crestwood. At the moment, the Tigers are in fourth, while the Comets are in second.
Crestwood moved up to 164 from 279 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Greg Myers's team was able to make the jump by beating Wallenpaupack Area 33-6.
