Football Recap: Mainland Piles Up the Points Against Heritage

There's no place like home for Mainland, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 33-6 win over the Heritage Panthers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Buccaneers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Panthers are ranked 146th).

Sebastian Johnson was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 238 yards and two TDs on only 19 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jaden Parks, who picked up 108 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Mainland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Marcus Day and Dennis King 3Rd. King 3Rd is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least eight every time he's taken the field this season.

Mainland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Mainland will venture away from home to challenge Belleview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers are facing the Rattlers at the right time seeing as the Rattlers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Heritage, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Martin County at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
