Voyager Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Oxford Prep since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Voyager Academy never let Wilson Prep get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Friday. That looming 14-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
Voyager Academy got a massive performance out of Carrick Ryan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Ryan has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Linus Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Voyager Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilson Prep only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Oxford Prep made easy work of Vance County on Friday and carried off a 20-0 win.
Tanner Abbott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Abbott was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jayce Elliott was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Gage Hobgood was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Voyager Academy pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for Oxford Prep, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Voyager Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. Voyager Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Oxford Prep, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Voyager Academy continue to outrun the ball?
