3A Region 4 recap November 13, 2013
Leeds extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 4 this week by beating Barbour County, 34-20. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Midfield scaled the state rankings by moving to 135 from 166 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Patriots climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Slocomb 36-13.
Trinity Presbyterian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ben Jones threw for 207 and 2 touchdowns and Robert Adams had 120 yards receiving. On the ground Chris Hynniman contributed 6 yards. Jack Albritton helped Trinity Presbyterian's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 57 yards.
He went 23-31 with 1 interception.
Will Cook made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wildcats lost to Pike County. The 5-foot-9 senior recorded 1 fumble.
Jones put up the best numbers through the air as Trinity Presbyterian lost to the Bulldogs. Jones' favorite target this week was Adams, who caught 11 passes for 120 yards.
On the heels of Andrew Hammond and Rod Whetstone, Central of Coosa County has had great success on offense. Hammond leads the league in passing with 1,007 yards, while Whetstone has rushed for 546 yards this season. Randy Ragsdale's team's Adams leads the league in receiving yards with 918 on 68 catches.
So far this year, he has acheived 68 catches for 918 yards.
Comer fell to Dale County 53-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
