The Chapman Panthers will face off against the Mountain View Prep Stars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Mountain View Prep better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Chapman's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Chapman really gets things going. The Panthers put the hurt on Broome with a sharp 70-49 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Centurions are ranked 255th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chapman can attribute much of their success to Cade St Charles, who shot 67% from the field en route to 22 points and seven steals, and Grayden Humphries, who went 8-for-16 on his way to 19 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Humphries' big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Khamari Turner, who posted seven points along with six boards and three blocks.
Chapman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Mountain View Prep had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They really took it to the Blazers for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-34 victory. The Stars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.
Mountain View Prep's win came from a few key players that Chapman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amare Paugh, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 11 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in field goal percentage (83%). Makorean Anderson was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.
Chapman's win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Mountain View Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Chapman has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 35.5% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Mountain View Prep, though, as they've only made 29% of their threes this season. Given Chapman's sizable advantage in that area, the Stars will need to find a way to close that gap.
Chapman barely slipped by Mountain View Prep in their previous meeting back in January, winning 48-47. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
