The Curlew Cougars lost against the Mary Walker Chargers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Curlew lost to Mary Walker on the road by a decisive 67-52 margin. Curlew has not had much luck with Mary Walker recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Curlew still got an impressive performance from Logan Thompson, who scored 20 points. That was a full 38.5% of Curlew's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Steven White, who scored seven points.
Mary Walker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teko Cates, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Cates is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Andru Pinyan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Curlew's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Mary Walker, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Curlew does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mary Walker, they will head out on the road to challenge Cusick at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Mary Walker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
