The Santaluces Chiefs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. The match between them and West Boca Raton wasn't particularly close, with Santaluces falling 54-36. Santaluces was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulls apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Santaluces still got an impressive performance from Decarious Jenkins, who scored 19 points along with four steals. That was a full 52.8% of Santaluces' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marvin Michel, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Santaluces' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13. As for West Boca Raton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-12.
Santaluces will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Lancers at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Emmanuel Augustin and Jenkins. As for West Boca Raton, they will head out on the road to take on the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Boca Raton and the Bulls are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
