After a string of five wins, the Carey Blue Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colonel Crawford. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Carey of the 39-34 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Carey lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Yost, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Yost is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Kynlee Phillips was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Carey's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3. As for Colonel Crawford, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carey will take on Buckeye Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Colonel Crawford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loudonville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Loudonville: 29, Colonel Crawford: 28.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
