Riverside hasn't had much luck against Woodgrove recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ram will challenge the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Riverside is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Riverside gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Yorktown 11-1. Considering the Ram have won six matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaylee Kadans looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ashley Bui was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Enright, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Woodgrove fell victim to Briar Woods and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Wolverines were not able to get on the board.
Abby Miller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Woodgrove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Harper, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Harper hit this season.
Riverside's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Woodgrove, their loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Woodgrove struggles in that department as they've averaged .415. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverside came up short against Woodgrove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Ram avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
