The Paintsville Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Betsy Layne Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kentucky (Paintsville is ranked 113th, while the Bobcats are ranked 132nd).
Last Friday, Paintsville was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Golden Eagles. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Paintsville in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 33-33 at halftime, Betsy Layne was not quite the Wolves' equal in the second half on Saturday. Betsy Layne fell to the Wolves 89-83. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (66), Betsy Layne still had to take the loss.
Paintsville's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Betsy Layne, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 11-10.
Paintsville was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bobcats in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 87-79. The rematch might be a little tougher for Paintsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
