The Pine Ridge Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Freedom with points to spare, taking the game 73-59. Winning may never get old, but Pine Ridge sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Pine Ridge was led to victory by Elijah Laird and Canyon Powers. Laird scored 23 points along with five rebounds, while Powers dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Laird has scored at least 25% of Pine Ridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jyles Newman, who scored 14 points.
Pine Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Freedom, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge will face off against Altamonte Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Altamonte Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. Freedom won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lake Weir at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. Hopefully Lake Weir focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday.
