Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Largo Packers

The Mitchell Mustangs will challenge the Largo Packers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.

Mitchell took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-47 margin over Anclote. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Mitchell relied on the efforts of Cayden Thomas, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 16 points and five assists, and Christopher Stoddart, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, Stoddart is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Wilson, who posted eight points and three steals.

Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Largo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost to Leto on the road by a 70-52 margin.

Mitchell will need focus on slowing down Chase Clark, one of several Largo players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailon Kaigler, who put up 20 points.

Mitchell's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Largo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Everything came up roses for Mitchell against Largo in their previous meeting last Thursday, as the team secured a 103-67 win. Will Mitchell repeat their success, or does Largo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
