After two games on the road, Doherty is heading back home. They will take on the Liberty Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Doherty's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matchups.
Last Tuesday, Doherty was able to grind out a solid win over the Eagles, taking the game 61-49.
Doherty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Mack led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Mack is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. James Pulliam was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Liberty waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Vista Ridge with a sharp 61-41 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Liberty has managed all season.
London Praytor was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Cameron Waithe-Cunningham, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Doherty is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Liberty, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.
Doherty didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Lancers when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-43 victory. Will Doherty repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
