The Sabino Sabercats were the 56-48 winner over the Rio Rico Hawks when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Sabino fell 56-44 to Rio Rico on Tuesday. Sabino can't seem to catch a break and have yet to win any of their five games.
Despite the loss, Sabino still got an impressive performance from Cameron Hackworth, who scored 19 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Berryhill , who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Sabino's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Rio Rico, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Sabino will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. Sahuaro presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sabino in Arizona (Sahuaro is ranked 27th, while Sabino is ranked 183rd). As for Rio Rico, they will head out on the road to face off against Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Salpointe Catholic is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.8 points per game.
