St. Paul is 8-2 against Arcadia/Loup City since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Last Tuesday, St. Paul ended up a good deal behind Adams Central and lost 55-38. St. Paul has struggled against Adams Central recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Gracie Kelley, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Kelley is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gracie Mudloff, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Arcadia/Loup City lost to Amherst at home by a decisive 60-41 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Arcadia/Loup City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Amherst is ranked 74th).
Despite the defeat, Arcadia/Loup City had strong showings from Nicole Chilewski, who scored ten points along with six assists, and Eva Jaixen, who scored nine points.
St. Paul's record now sits at 1-3. As for Arcadia/Loup City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: St. Paul have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Arcadia/Loup City struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 27.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for St. Paul against Arcadia/Loup City in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 63-28 victory. With St. Paul ahead 35-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.
