The Mercer Island Islanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Glacier Peak Grizzlies at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Mercer Island was able to grind out a solid win over Hazen, taking the game 60-48. Given Mercer Island's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Hazen is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mercer Island's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Mcdonald, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Cruzen, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Glacier Peak put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 70-46 margin over Lincoln. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Glacier Peak has posted since December 21, 2023.
The win makes it two in a row for Mercer Island and bumps their season record up to 10-5. As for Glacier Peak, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
